LUIS CHACON (1953)

The art of Luis Chacón is characterized for being vital and uninhibited, with intense use of colors and strong lines. He has carried out interesting translations of the Costa Rican landscape to contemporary pictorial languages, responding often to symbols and graphics of his own invention.

In 1976, obtained a Degree in Plastic Arts of the University of Costa Rica, and in 1979 a Doctorate in the University of Paris, France. Luis Chacon was assistant, in that country, of the kinetic artist Carlos Cruz Diez. He has set exhibits in Germany, France, Mexico, El Salvador and Dominican Republic. Luis Chacón has contributed to give an own profile to the Costa Rican art of his generation.
